Love Letters

This work, “Love Letters” mixes my interest in vintage fashion, Victorian portrait photography and mid-century pinups. Self-portraiture gives me a way to explore how my body appears in photographs, grappling with my own self-esteem issues while allowing her full freedom to enact vulnerable poses seen in historic photographs. The black and white colouring of the photos is meant to evoke the silvery shine of Victorian daguerreotypes, the silver screen, and the mid-century magazine prints of pinup models.

“Love Letters” was installed in frames and Lockets at the Northern Contemporary Gallery in Toronto, On, March 19th—25th 2025

The photography show was titled “Faces Place & Traces” and was curated by Beatriz Simas.
